Paying does not equal Beauty

[You like what I did there huh?]

Let's get started by saying, I'm just an average girl in a too expensive world.

And as you all know, that alone is hard enough, but alas I am also plus size. Which adds the extra task of trying to look good without having to pay the extra fee.  And if any of you have been shopping lately, you know what I mean, especially now that we have to buy twice as many tops because all the cute ones are see-through!

In my area, I would say there are six malls which are just a short car ride away. However, if you take that and consider the fact that each mall likely only has two or three shops that carry plus size clothing, it makes it sound far less appealing.

Taking a closer look at those presumed three stores, I have to tell you [and you're not going to like this] two out of three of them, carry clothing where the cut is a bit off and the third store is that hip, plus-size store we all know of...

Now don't get me wrong I love said unnamed store*. I see clothing in there all the time that I would absolutely adore having in my closet, but they are all so expensive! And I just can't see myself paying nearly forty dollars for a tee-shirt that I can find for $4 at a second-hand store.

This brings me to why I love second-hand stores! But first I would like to give a big thanks to all of the people who actually can afford to buy the forty dollar shirts in the first place, without you I wouldn't look nearly as cute! Second-hand stores are famous for having new clothing and selling it at a minuscule fraction of the price. Which for this lady means a shopping spree that won't burn a hole in my purse.

I am also a huge fan of thrift stores, which always happen to have cute, vintage-looking jewelry and accessories that can complement any style. And now that the hipster thing is big, people no longer give you weird looks for saying you shop at them!

But don't let me forget to mention bargain stores and I don't mean the ones that lower their prices by like 10% I mean true bargain stores, with huge deals that make you want to hide your find at the bottom of the shopping cart in case anyone walks by. Those are worth taking a look at. (Did I hear someone mention ROSS!)

So yes, I might be big and broke, but there is nothing that will keep me from trying to look Beautiful. Therefore I hope you'll be inspired to do the same and always remember, Confidence is key.

psst* the store I love but can't afford is Torrid, although they are just in my price range when their
sunglasses and shoes are on sale!
